Introduction
Our school must be financially viable and run on sound economic principles in order to provide the educational programmes necessary to meet our Aims & Objects.
Because we are a "low fee" school, parents' contributions are critical to our viability and prompt payment of fees is very important for our financial planning.
If at any time you are unable to pay fees or other costs, please contact the Business Manager as soon as possible to discuss a solution. We are happy to facilitate specific arrangements where situations necessitate, but we do need to be kept thoroughly informed of any potential difficulties or problems.
We all have a responsibility to be good stewards of what God has given us, and this includes managing our finances and meeting our commitments. The school relies on all parents meeting their financial commitment, and in keeping the school informed of any instances where this may prove difficult because of unexpected circumstances.
School Fees
School fees are set each year by the Board and will be invoiced annually in February.Payments may be made by instalments, see Fee Payment Intention Plan and Ready Reckoner for more information. If a child commences during the course of a term, a proportional fee is payable. Current fees are listed on the Fee Schedule.
Parents are asked to complete a Fee Payment Intention Form, advising the School of their preferred method of payment. HCCS offers payment by BPay, Direct Debit, EFTPOS, Centrepay, Cheque or Cash. Fortnightly & monthly instalments are available upon application to the Business Manager.
Enrolment Deposit
A Deposit of $350 will be required, payable in two instalments. Within three weeks of a formal interview with the Principal and an offer of a position, the 1st instalment of $175.00 is payable. The balance will be due one month before commencement. This deposit will be credited on the final account of the child's education at HCCS.
Parents are required to give a term's notice of withdrawal of students or forfeit the deposit, unless exceptional circumstances apply and an exemption sought from the Principal.
Building Fund
All families with children enrolled at the School are expected to contribute to the Building Fund, which is an integral part of the ongoing development of the school. The amount of contribution is set each year by the Board with the assistance of the Finance committee. Contributions to the Building Fund are tax deductible.
School Card (Govt Assistance)
If families have difficulty with the level of fees payable, it is likely that they may qualify for government assistance.
Application must be made at the beginning of each year for assistance. Full fees will be charged unless advised otherwise. Criteria for School Card varies each year. Families who believe they may be eligible are asked to contact the Business Manager to discuss the process.
Students who qualify for government assistance will receive a rebate on the invoice.
Postponement in special circumstances
In special circumstances where meeting fee schedules becomes difficult, the school may be able to offer flexible arrangements. Please contact the Business Manager as early as possible to discuss options. Families needing to pay by instalments must complete a Fee Payment Plan, indicating the process to meet their commitments according to the agreed schedule. There is no additional charge to parents to have this arrangement. Where families are absent for periods of time e.g. extended holidays, normal fee charges apply.
The School Board has an obligation to manage the School on sound economic lines and any remissions have to be considered in the light of this obligation.
Bursaries
Because one of the aims of the School is that it be open to families regardless of their economic status we invite families in difficult financial circumstances to discuss fee payment with the Principal or Business Manager. The school has allocated funds available to support families in need and remissions are available each year on application.
After discussion with the Principal or Business Manager, parents will be requested to make written application for a Bursary and the School will expect applications to demonstrate a willingness to pay as much as is possible.
All discussions and disclosures will be treated in strictest confidence.
Fee Assistors
It may be possible, rather than reducing a parent's fees, to match them with a fee assistor, i.e. someone who will meet the difference between what a parent can afford and the actual fee. The fee assistor might be a grandparent or other family member, local churches (in a general fund), another parent who is able to meet more than their own commitment, or even a past student. The recipient may know who their benefactor is or the assistor may wish to remain anonymous. This requires real commitment from the wider Christian community but promotion of this kind of stewardship can be very rewarding for all parties.
