HCCS celebrates many Annual Events which families look forward to each year. The Events are listed on the 2017 Calendar and include:
Open Mornings are held at the PRIMARY School situated on the Verdun Campus (Early Learning Centre – Year 7), 9.30am – 11.00am and at the SECONDARY School situated on the Oakbank Campus (Years 8 – 11), 9.30am – 11.00am. Please join us for student guided tours and meet with the Principal.
BOOK WEEK PARADE
Students from the Early Learning Centre through to Year 7, teachers and staff celebrate the wonderful week of fun and learning of Book Week with a dress-up parade. This is a joyous occasion with many parents joining in the celebration. The Parade is held on a Friday morning during Term 3 each year.
HCCS FUN FAIR
This very successful and fun event has become a biennial event.
The next HCCS Fun Fair will be held in 2018.
YEAR 7 GRADUATION
The Graduation Service for Year 7 students is held at the Christmas Worship Service. The Principal and the Year 7 teachers present each child with a Bible. A Graduation Dinner is held at the School late in Term 4 where the children have an opportunity to celebrate with their friends.
YEAR 12 GRADUATION
The Graduation for Year 12 students will be celebrated with a Formal to be held late in November and a Graduation Service/Awards Night.
Our Swimming Carnival is held at the Woodside Pool each year during Term 3 for Reception to Year 7 students.
The Hills Christian Community School holds two whole school Worship Services each year. The first is held at Easter time where the children present the Easter message to family and friends. The second is at the end of the year where we celebrate the message of Jesus’ birth and the conclusion of another year.
HCCS celebrates Easter with students acting out the Easter Story every day during the week leading up to Easter. We begin with Palm Sunday, which is always the highlight of the week! The students and staff from ELC to Year 7 dress up in costume and meet together on the Rivermont Property where ‘Nuala’, the donkey, joins us for this wonderful re-enactment. The rest of the week features the other significant events of the Easter Story, and concludes with a whole school dance event on the oval representing the Resurrection!
Our ELC to Year 7 Sports Day will be held at the HCCS Secondary / Oakbank Area School Oval (at the back of the School) towards the end of Term One. A sausage sizzle lunch can be purchased and it is an opportunity for families to come and watch their children and to get to know each other. This is another fun community event.
Our Year 8 to Year 12 Sports Day is combined with the Oakbank Area School Sports Day during Term 1.
GRANDPARENTS’ / GRANDFRIENDS’ MORNING
Around 400 visitors join with their grandchildren and young friends in ELC to Year 7, at the Verdun Campus, early in Term 2, and enjoy time in classrooms, a concert and a scrumptious morning tea. Grandparent’s Morning at Secondary, for Year 8 students is celebrated on November 11th each year and involves a Remembrance Day ceremony, classroom visitation and a delicious morning tea.
FATHERS’ DAY BREAKFAST
After a feed of bacon and eggs, dads and special friends from ELC to Year 7, visit classrooms on the Friday morning prior to Fathers’ Day.
MOTHERS’ DAY BREAKFAST
Mums from ELC to Year 7, are recognised at a special breakfast and having time with their children in classrooms on the Friday morning prior to Mothers’ Day.
ELC TO YEAR 2 EXTRAVAGANZA
Families from ELC to Year 2 meet together for a picnic tea on the Rivermont property. This is followed by delightful Christmas performances from all ELC to Year 2 students. A most memorable night it is!
