Reception to Year 6 and Year 7 Curriculum
The Hills Christian Community School provides a broad, rigorous, engaging and challenging learning program for all children. An inquiry methodology is used across all year levels and Reception and Year 1 classes have an emphasis on play based learning. Due to our close proximity to the Onkaparinga River and our 9 acres of farmland, HCCS has a strong focus on Nature Play and Environmental Education.
The curriculum is designed to cater for the whole child, providing opportunities for children’s spiritual, physical, mental, social and emotional growth. The HCCS curriculum is shaped by the Australian Curriculum in major learning areas.
Time is devoted daily to class Devotions and the whole school joins together for Worship on Monday mornings. The curriculum for Christian Studies from Year 1 to 7 is the Christian Studies Curriculum Framework. Reception classes follow the God’s Word program.
HCCS has specialist teachers for Physical Education, Science, German, Information and Communication Technology and Music.
The HCCS curriculum includes;
- Christian Studies
- Languages other than English – German
