In recent years excursions have included visiting:
- Gumerach Toy Factory (Technology Studies)

- Theatre Productions – (English and Drama)
- Science Alive (Science)

- Year 12 retreat at Victor Harbor
When we commenced Year 8 in 2013, the School introduced a Mission Trip to Fiji which has now become a strong and valued tradition within our School community. To consolidate that sense of giving, our Year 9 students take part in a camp in Adelaide with a focus of ‘Homelessness’ and gaining an understanding of the underprivileged in our local community.
Our Secondary School students at Oakbank have incredible opportunities to participate in Musicals, Plays and Dramas to continue the strong learning of the Arts at Verdun.
Instrumental lessons are offered on a private basis and are often on display with the skills of the students who play in the Secondary Chapel Band.
Sports and Club Activities
HCCS seeks to honour the sporting talent, interest and passion of our Adelaide Hills students, many of whom are very sport oriented, as well as learning and practising skills as part of the Secondary Physical Education curriculum. Aquatics, Bushwalking and rich Outdoor Education experiences feature during the life of our Secondary School students.
HCCS has being very successful over many years, often achieving State Champion at a particular year level in sports where we have entered teams. Opportunities are available to participate in many inter-school carnivals in a variety of sports including Basketball, Netball, Athletics, Swimming and AFL in South Australian Secondary Schools Amateur Sports Association (SASSASA) and the South Australian Christian Schools Association (SACSA).
Nature and Environment
HCCS is privileged to have access to the Oakbank Area School farm where our Secondary School is located. Most of our classrooms look out over the best oval in the Adelaide Hills and picturesque gums while having access to over 30 acres of farmland.
HCCS Secondary students are actively involved in the Steer Leading and Goat Leading programmes at the Oakbank campus which result in presenting animals and competing at the Royal Adelaide Agricultural Show. We also manage a Chicken programme at Year 8/9 and have access to Agricultural studies with Oakbank Area School.
Extra Curricular Activities
