Development of leaders is seen as an integral part of HCCS life within the Secondary School.
Secondary students have the opportunity to be elected to the Secondary Student Voice (SSV) which has a similar role as the SRC at Verdun. House Leaders are also elected to represent their teams in various campus events at HCCS Secondary.
Open Day Tours allow students to demonstrate their leadership roles while escorting prospective students and parents throughout the campus.
Secondary Student Voice
The SSV is available for students from Year 8 to Year 12 and has two students elected from each year level, who are elected by their peers. Students meet regularly with staff to discuss student based initiatives every fortnight. Training of SSV members is an important part of the process.
The SSV looks for opportunities to improve the life of students at Oakbank and are consulted about uniforms, daily activities, relationships with Oakbank students and so much more.
HCCS Secondary has 3 Houses named Bull, Riemann and Rogers and each House has a Captain and Vice-Captain.
House Captains are elected from Year 11 with Deputies from Year 8 – 10 elected to support and offer perspective from across all year levels.
School Captains and Vice-Captains
In 2017, HCCS elected our first School Captains and Vice Captains. The selection process includes a speech to the students and staff at Oakbank, an election by peers and an agreement by staff. The positions are prestigious in the life of HCCS Secondary.
